Item Description
All items were issued before or shortly after February 7, 1940 premiere. First is 8.25x10.75" folder with textured stiff paper covers and four pages along with slick paper 8x10.25" loose insert invitation which includes text “Mr. And Mrs. Public: Walt Disney Requested Me To Invite You To Attend The Premiere Showing Of Pinocchio At The Pantages Hollywood Theater February 9th”. Minor fray on binding cord, otherwise Exc. Next is 9x12" four page slick paper promo which is reprint of illustrated article from December 1939 issue of “International Photographer” which has article on multi-plane camera along with four scenes from film. Promo was issued by Public Relations Department of Fox West Coast Theater. Lower right corner has 1.75" diagonal crease with tiny tear. Still VF. Next is 9x12" four page slick paper promo titled “A Word About Walt Disney’s Pinocchio” with front cover art of Jiminy standing on Pinocchio’s right foot talking to him. Has illustrated text talking about the making of the film and biography on Walt. Left corners have a few lt. creases, trace of lt. dust soil most noticeable on back cover. Fine/VF. Next three items are 8.5x11" mimeographed sheets sent from S. Barret McCormick RKO Pictures, New York City with individual text on “Monstro The Whale, Songs Further Story In Walt Disney’s Pinocchio, Toy Instruments Used In Music Box Sequence For New Disney Feature”. All have Exc. appearance. Last item is 6x9" handbill from Franjo Theater in Boonville with four pages. Front cover has nice graphics of Pinocchio poster design with large text “Jiminy Cricket, What A Show!” and opens to wonderful centerfold showing characters and film images surrounding “Walt Disney’s Pinocchio” large book. Back cover also has text announcement for upcoming “Gone With The Wind” film which would run for one week beginning March 31. Two lt. horizontal folds as mailed, otherwise Exc. An interesting group of rare Pinocchio paper items.
