Item Description
Three items. See similar lots sent to same recipient for pens/pencils & lunch box #2335 and 2306 and Tomart Archives example comb #1508. Ace pocket comb slide case is 1.5x5" c.1935. Case is stiff cardboard with outer covering of linen-like material and has image on one side of Mickey looking in a mirror and combing his hair and Minnie on the other side holding a comb in the air. Mickey’s side has additional “Belongs To” line which has not been filed in. Shows scattered wear but Fine. 8.5x11" typewritten letter on “American Hard Rubber Company” letterhead is typewritten dated October 14, 1935 addressed to store owner Drysdale & Son, Bennington, VT. Letter is signed in ink by E. K. Johnson Manager and promotes “Our New Mickey Mouse Pocket Comb Assortment No.5219". Letter lists retail price of 19¢ each giving potential store owner a 12¢ markup. Comes with 8.75x10 5/8" slick paper flyer printed on front side with choice art of “Mickey Mouse Pocket Comb” display which includes large image of Mickey saying “Say Folks! Slick Up With A Mickey Mouse Pocket Comb”. Letter and flyer each have lt. horizontal as mailed, otherwise Exc. Bright color and great design.
