Item Description
c. 1970. 16.25x21.5" illustration board has wonderful pencil and watercolor painting of Sick magazine mascot character Huckleberry Fink sitting on commode wearing several layers of clothes with two thermometers in his mouth, winter gloves, and feet in hot kettle holding book "The Happy Hypochondriac". Right side has clipboard with medical chart sheets falling off showing the patient's decline just below roll of toilet paper with medicine bottles on floor. Art is signed at lower right "Joe Simon". Board has some lt. dust soil and entire bottom edge has moisture mark which extends just a bit into image area. Despite problems, art will mat and frame to near Exc. appearance. Sick magazine was created by comic book writer-artist Joe Simon who also edited the title until the late 1960s and did numerous covers into the early 1970s. Exceptionally well done with wonderful detail. Funny. See next item #2199.
