Item Description
The NFL Colts (their second incarnation) started in 1953. First item is from their second year. 6.75x10.5" die-cut card designed like a football has text "2nd Annual Colts Kick Off Banquet Sponsored By The Colts Associates" for event held September 7, 1954 at the Emerson Hotel. Bottom has Colts logo of young colt with helmet in midair leaping over goalpost with football between hooves. Reverse side has ad with bottle cap for "Gunther Beer" who sponsored the Colts on radio and TV. Card folder opens to list of players including Art Donovan, Gino Marchetti, and Don Shula along with Colts song and their home schedule and list of staff. Neat die-cut design. Exc. Second item is 6.25x6.25" folder for March 9 testimonial dinner honoring Carroll Rosenbloom and Weeb Ewbank. Folder opens to reveal photo of them laughing and opens again to reveal full size of 12-3/8x18-5/8" with photo of full team in uniform titled "Baltimore's Glory Boys. They Conquered The Football World In 1958". Art Donovan and Johnny Unitas are standing near each other in top row and Coach Ewbank is also in photo. Exc. The team won back to back 1958-59 championships. Both are nicely designed and scarce.
