Item Description
5.75" with separate accent ribbon at top. Symbolic silver text reads "West/Virginia/16 To 1/And A/United Democracy/Chicago July 7th-1896." Likely produced for a West Virginia delegate to wear at the Chicago Colosseum Democratic Convention which opened July 7 as the ribbon stipulates. Bryan's historic keynote "Cross of Gold" speech criticized the Eastern monied classes for supporting the gold standard at the cost of the average worker. He was then nominated on the 5th ballot. Minor small traces of wear. VF.
