Item Description
First is 7x10-1/8" German hardcover copyright 1926 published by Paul Aretz Ferlag/Dresden. Title translates to "History Of The Cinema" by Kurt Moreck. High quality book has gold stamped front cover with image of actress resembling Colleen Moore. Book contains 284 pages including numerous rotogravure photos. Includes Charlie Chaplin in "Gold Rush." Front lower left seam at spine edge has 3-1/8" split and covers have some lt. aging but overall covers VG+, contents VF. Remaining books are all published by Falcon Press London and have dust wrappers. Each has text section and separate slick paper photo section. Dates and titles are: "20 Years Of British Film 1925-1945, 1948 Fifty Years Of German Film, 1948 Soviet Cinema, 1951 The Italian Cinema, 1952 Scandinavian Film, and 1953 French Film." German book includes photo pages for "Dr. Caligari" and "Nosferatu." Dust wrappers have a few pieces missing, most noticeable on British and Soviet books. Otherwise dust wrappers near Fine, books themselves Exc. Comprehensive group with wonderful photos throughout. Additional photos online. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
