Item Description
5.25x7.5" trimmed sheet of animation paper with image area 4x5.75". c. 1934, three years prior to the film's release. Top margin has penciled notation "Sleepy." Very detailed drawing is in lead pencil with red pencil accents on face and hands and depicts Sleepy leaning against a tree with word balloon above him reading "What Makes Yer Think She Wants To Stay?" Sleepy appears in a much more detailed and realistic form than the final version used in the film. To the right of him are red pencil outline sketches of three other dwarfs, one believed to be Grumpy. Lightly tanned, tack holes at corners. Top margin has sequence number notations not affecting art area. Art itself remains Exc. Rare and historic piece of Disney art.
