Item Description
All are items are c. 1930s-1950s. Include 5.75x10" "Past Sr. Vice Commander Supreme M.O.C." ornate felt hat with embroidered images of cootie bug, 7-7/8x9-7/8" hand tinted photo of man standing in front of military tomb wearing cootie related apparel including hat with metal points and rhinestone jewels holding floral bouquet with ribbon titled "Grand Pup", 1-3/8" watch fob, 5.25" long ribbon badge for 1954 "Seventh Annual Grand Scratch", 4" long ribbon with button for 1955 "21st Grand Scratch Grand Pup Tent Of Minnesota" event, and pair of 7/8" enamel pins with cootie image titled "Cootie VFW National Home." Also includes 1.75" cello button for "22nd Supreme Scratch" event held in Philadelphia in 1941 and 1.25" cello button with cootie image. Last button has some spotting, rest of group is Fine to Exc. Although founders picked the name with a sense of humor, the Military Order Of The Cootie is a non-profit veterans service organization. Their purposes are good fun, harmless frolic along with their serious goals of support of the widows and children of the VFW National Home for Children in Michigan and hospitalized veterans all over the world. Founded in 1920, the group is still active today with their slogan "Increase And Multiply". Some scarce items for an important veterans service organization.
