Item Description
Hake #28. 1" with Bastian Bros. union bug on reverse and with "Rochester" union bug at front lower right. Design features oval browntone photos on rwb shield surrounded by text on deep red rim reading "Harding And Coolidge Junior Booster/America First." Trivial oxidation traces on reverse. Celluloid has numerous, but largely microscopic, light scratches mostly 1/16" or less and all apparent only in reflected light. These are primarily around the Coolidge photo. However, we emphasize with normal viewing, even closely, the button displays Mint with full gloss, unfaded color and perfect centering. There are two or three rarer Harding and Coolidge jugates, but we know of only one equally colorful (Hake #25). Most jugates are a combination of sepia, brown, gray or black and white. This jugate, which we don't believe has been offered at auction in years, is extremely graphic. At $6,000 it is the second highest value Harding item in the Hake 2004 Revised Prices for Harding. Extremely Fine, displaying Mint.
