Item Description
This group was the largest labor organization of the 1880s reaching some 700,000 members in 1886 under the leadership of Terence V. Powderly. A primary demand of the group was the eight-hour day. This piece, probably c. 1885, is an American quarter 15/16" dia. Reverse has worn but clear details. Front of the piece has been totally altered with a triangular pattern on the outer rim and a larger triangle at center. Lower left is the letter "K" at the top is the word "Of" and at lower right is the large letter "L". Within the triangle are the member's engraved initials "J.R." Tiny notch of metal off out of the left rim but otherwise Exc. condition. See following related item. Unique and rare.
