Item Description
The nine larger badges are each about 2.75" tall. The first and probably earliest piece has stamped inscription "School Boy/Patrol/Officer." This is the earliest badge of this type we've seen. Next are four pieces also from the '30s but of heavier cast metal and each with a celluloid addition. First of these reads "Jackson Safety Patrol/Member." Small bit of brown tone on the celluloid. Second reads simply "Patrol." NM. Third reads "Chief Playground Patrol/Birmingham Jr. Safety Council." Essentially Mint. Last in this series reads "Grand Ledge Safety Patrol Member." Minor age trace on the celluloid. The next four badges were all issued by the American Automobile Association and saw use at least through most of the 1950s. Each has the same design but these are for four different ranks and they are accompanied by a small card which has four miniature metal pins replicating the colors and the ranks of the larger badges. The four ranks are "Patrol Man/Sergeant/Lieutenant/Captain." Trivial paint loss on the last two large badges but everything remains in Exc. to Mint condition.
