Auction #205 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1426 in auction 205
Item Description
This 1948 cereal premium featured a brass base with small plastic full figure of baseball player which was movable by a spring so that the bat could strike a small plastic ball held on a vertical thin wire. The fragile nature of the construction resulted in a quite scarce premium but as scarce as the rings are this small piece of paper is even rarer and the first we've been able to offer. It came packaged in the box with the ring so it has numerous but small crease marks. It is also incomplete as the bottom was a coupon that could be sent in for additional rings. The part that remains is 2x2.5" with illustrated portrait of Ted Williams as if writing a letter addressed to: "Dear Friend: Here's My New Nabisco Shredded Wheat "Baseball Action Ring" Which I Hope You Will Enjoy." The 'letter' continues on for two additional paragraphs and concludes: "Good Luck To You!" with "Ted Williams" facsimile signature.
