Item Description
This 7/8" tall figural enamel on brass lapel stud depicts the Yellow Kid, generally credited as being the first ever comic strip character. Lettering on his nightshirt reads "Hogan's Alley Is Out Fer McKinley." This slogan represents the first ever comic character endorsement of a presidential candidate. Condition is spectacular, the best of four we've been able to offer over 46 years. Details include tiny blue enamel eyes, red blush on his ears and mouth and red enamel feet. Reverse of the piece has about 50% of its silvering and 50% of the underneath brass tone showing. Historic, rare and NM, displaying Mint.
