Item Description
Large 6.75x10" newspaper clipping titled "Henry Chadwick, Baseball And Cricket Editor" with date of Saturday, January 17, 1880. Often called the "Father Of Baseball," Chadwick was a sportswriter, baseball statistician and historian. He first started covering Cricket for local papers but in 1857 he focused his attention as a journalist and writer on baseball after joining the New York Clipper newspaper. From there his efforts covering, compiling and researching all things baseball only added to his legacy and importance to the game he so loved. For his contributions he was elected to the Baseball HOF by the Veterans Committee in 1938. This piece is one of the only career-contemporary collectibles in existence depicting Chadwick. Clean and displaying Exc. as encapsulated "Authentic."
