Item Description
Large 12x18" promotional publication ©1933. Complete w/glossy paper cover and 15 bw pages on newsprint. Incredibly detailed contents w/many illustrations thoroughly details this extensive campaign/contest that ran for several weeks and featured 12 different Mickey puzzles that were published in newspapers. First page is letter to "Mr. Editor" from Walt who touts this as a "Circulation Builder" and mentions how local movie theaters would/could help w/the promotion. Page two details "How To Run The Contest." Page three is for the theater's involvement and titled "The Exhibitors' Tie-up" and includes images of two glass slides as well as a handout "Guide Sheet" featuring images of the 24 different Mickey cut-out that were to appear in the newspapers. The following pages feature a wide variety of ads to run in order to build interest prior to the start of the contest which is followed by examples of all 24 cut-outs and much text pertaining to daily promotion as the campaign went along. Additional photos include Walt w/Mickey and movie stars w/the giant Mickey Charlotte Clark doll such as Mary Pickford and Eddie Cantor. The extent of great content is much too involved to do it justice in this description, this truly special item must be seen in person to fully appreciate. Obvious wear/aging. Front cover has inked inscription at top right and 1" tape repair inside cover. Three staples along spine but pages only remain completely intact at bottom staple. Spine split but cover intact. Pages aged and brittle w/chips mostly at corners and most small in nature, .25 to .5" but few are 1" or so. None of the page content is affected. Overall just Good but the only copy we have offered in our 46 years. One of the most incredible Disney paper items we have ever seen. Additional photos online.
