Issued in several versions. this is the suede cloth version from 1934 by Daisy. 8x5.5x2.5" box has striking image of Buck wearing helmet on two sides. Side panels have additional Buck and spaceship images. Box is flattened, missing six of eight end flaps and has heavy wear with inside paper tape repairs and outside clear tape repairs. Fair. Box could be displayed assembled by using remaining side flap. Box is very rare, this is the first we have offered in our 46 years. Helmet has movable metal visor unit w/plastic eye cover insert. Attached to visor on sides are two metal discs that extend down over the helmet side flaps. These feature images of Buck with spaceship and moon in bkg. Helmet is complete with metal mushroom shaped accent piece on top, usually missing. All over obvious oxidation to metal parts. Suede covering has stiffened with age and has moderate overall crazing, flaking mostly evident on sides. Chin strap is missing snap at end. Despite problems still displays Fine. Lot also includes 15" tall resin male mannequin head on which helmet fits perfectly. Mannequin shows scuffing at neck areas, one cheek and has a few paint chips. Fine. A great group to display together, enhanced by the mannequin.
