Item Description
9.75x13.75". c. early 1900s. Tennessee Brewing Co. of Memphis. Nice beer bottle image w/tiny image of Columbia w/American flag on label. Columbia was at the time the female personification of the United States, akin to Uncle Sam, and fell out of favor around 1920 in favor of the Statue of Liberty. Bottle is flanked by repeated tiny images of Tennessee Brewing Company's "Southern Enterprise" trademark, with the image of a Southern farmer reclining on a bale. Sign has two holes along top edge as designed for hanging, complete w/original chain. Left and lower edges show scattered rust, mainly at upper left. VG.
