Item Description
9x10" box flat for thick cardboard 2.5x10x7" tall target by Joseph Schneider Inc. ©1935 Stephen Slesinger Inc. Box features illustration on top of Tarzan firing a gun at lion, two side panels feature image of him w/ape and alligator, back panel w/instructions. Box is incomplete, major defects are missing interior flaps and side and part of back panel loose. Fair and just comes along, though as flattened, still a nice piece for display. The target has an attached wood brace on the back plus metal battery-operated mechanism. Attached to the top of this mechanism is a wood strip w/two hinged targets, each w/paper label on front, one depicting lion head and the other a tiger head. Front features different point value targets as well as great illustration of Tarzan on elephant plus other jungle animals. Mechanism is designed to rock the wood strip back and forth revealing the two animal targets, one at a time. While the battery terminals remain totally clean, the mechanism does not work, as is typical of this toy. This bar can be tapped and they will move back and forth several times on their own. Target is exceptionally bright, clean and glossy w/just a few tiny traces of edge wear. The metal hinges on back of animal head targets have trace of surface oxidation but still Exc. Target is missing 5" long pressed steel gun which shot darts (also missing). An exceptional toy rarely w/its original box.
