Item Description
7.25x10.25” hardcover of “The Life Story Of Herman Brix/Bruce Bennett” by Mike Chapman w/forward by Danton Burroughs. 126-page book published by Culture House Books ©2001. Title page has been signed in blue felt tip pen "Best Wishes Herman Brix - Bruce Bennett - 'Tarzan'.” Brix (stage name - Bruce Bennett) was a 1928 Olympics Silver Medalist and went on to play Tarzan in the 1935 serial “The New Adventures Of Tarzan.” Film was produced by Burroughs-Tarzan Enterprises, in competition w/MGM, the main distributor of Tarzan films. MGM blocked distribution of Brix's “New Adventures Of Tarzan” in favor of their upcoming serial of the same name. This involved MGM threatening theaters showing Brix's serial w/not being allowed to show the MGM's Tarzan films. Almost every theater bowed out, not showing Brix’s turn as Tarzan. Dust jacket has photo of Brix as Tarzan and is NM. Book is Mint. Signed in person and comes with Hake’s COA.
