3-5/8x6.5" First Day Cover bears Dec. 19, 1972 postmark from the USS Ticonderoga, the ship that recovered Apollo 17 and matching "Apollo 17 - U.S. Navy Recovery Force" ink stamp. Envelope has been signed by NASA astronauts Eugene Cernan and Ronald Evans in black felt tip pen. Envelope bears pair of "Apollo 8" stamps and "First Man On The Moon" stamp. Apollo 17 was the eleventh and final manned mission in the Apollo space program. Launched on Dec. 7, 1972, with a three member crew consisting of Commander Cernan, Command Module Pilot Evans, and Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt. Apollo 17 remains the most recent manned Moon landing and the most recent manned flight beyond low Earth orbit. 1x1" area of surface paper lifting from stamp removal in lower right front corner. Does not affect signature areas, which remains Exc. Comes with Hake’s COA and JSA LOA.
