Item Description
Likely original 15.75x19.75" wooden frame with scattered small marks has original brass hanger at top plus original wood backing boards. Glass-covered image area measures 10-3/8x14-3/8" showing totally clean print with substantial margins. Below print maker's name and Boston address, larger text reads in full: "Death Of Lieut. Henry Clay Jr. Of The Second Regimt. Kentucky Volunteers. At The Battle Of Buena Vista, Feby. 23d. 1847 - 'Leave Me And Take Care Of Yourselves. Give These Pistols To My Father, And Tell Him I Have Done All I Can With Them, And Return Them To Him." Print displays essentially Mint and is the first example we've seen.
