Item Description
See small poster for this event, item #366. 2x3-5/8" stiff card signed by JFK on the blank reverse of a "1960 Boys Club Pool Family Admission Card." Card has narrow tan lines at edges, one corner crease and three hairline surface stress creases in center area. Signature is hurried but very typical of JFK's autograph style. With the card comes "Sep 60" 3.5" square snapshot of JFK in the grandstand (watching harness racing) flanked by former Pennsylvania Governor George Leader and then-current Pennsylvania Governor David Lawrence, with a row of Pennsylvania State Troopers below. Also included is a 1981 letter to Herman Darvick of the Universal Autograph Collectors Club from the woman who got the autograph inquiring about its value. The typed paragraph reads: " On Sept. 16 1960 I was On The Grand Stand At The York Fair When John F. Kennedy Was Campaigning For President. He Came Through The Crowd And I Took A Dated Card From My wallet And Got His Autograph On The Back. I Would Like To Know What It's Worth, Please Use My Self Addressed Envelope And Let Me Know." Darvick wrote on the paper in red ink "Depending Upon Condition About $75-$100." The envelope is included. In addition are four newspaper clippings from 1977 and 1983 recalling JFK's visit with five large photos and detailed story about JFK's York Fair campaign speech and then his movements around the fairgrounds and his interactions with the enthusiastic crowd. The group could be framed to present a fascinating glimpse of JFK on the 1960 campaign trail. See JFK York Fair handbill #366. Comes with Hake's COA.
