From the time Nixon was inaugurated as Vice-President in 1953 until after his resignation in 1974, York newsman Harry McLaughlin was constantly writing to Nixon on many topics and receiving replies from Nixon's secretary Rose Mary Woods. 5x7" photo has been signed in blue ink and reads "Best Wishes To Harry McLaughlin. Rose Mary Woods." Reverse has four masking tape pieces at edges plus ink stamp of McLaughlin's newspaper address and pencil notation. Trivial aging to front. On various letterheads, depending on the date in Nixon's career, the topics include; campaign races, suggestions by Harry, visits to D.C., Nixon visits to Pennsylvania, Nixon relatives, White House church services, thank yous for clippings and photos, the 1973 Inaugural, Harry seeking an administrative job, the China visit, and finally an oblique Watergate reference from Woods "The Past Weeks Have Been Difficult." Letters are mostly 6.25x9.25" or 8x11". A few have handling creases or a staple hole but vast majority are Exc. All letters are to McLaughlin and signed in ink by Woods. Many include envelope.
