Item Description
18.5x23” thin art board has 16.25x20.5” India ink image area w/13 panels for Oct. 2. Si catches Felix sleeping in his chair and throws him out the window. Felix walks in the moonlight until morning when he finds an egg which hatches a baby chick. The chick’s mother gets chased by Si and winds up as the family’s dinner, leading the scared chick to jump back in his broken shell. Art is signed in ink “Pat Sullivan” at the bottom of the last panel, but all art is by Otto Messmer who created Felix for the Sullivan studio. Complete w/ King Features Syndicate copyright sticker at the bottom of panel 12. First three panels are done on one separate board and glued in place, bottom third of page is lightly tanned. Bottom edge has horizontal creasing affecting the bottom three panels. Page has some lt. dust soiling. Despite problems, page will mat and frame to Near Fine appearance. One of the nicest early Felix Sunday page originals we’ve ever seen. Great sight gags, and Felix in every panel including classic “walking” image. Superb.
