15x40" poster (similar to American insert poster format) for the Australian release of the 1936 Universal movie serial based on the Frank Merriwell books by Gilbert Patten. Merriwell is a fictional character who served as the model for all later American juvenile sports fiction, excelling at football, baseball, basketball, crew and track at Yale while solving mysteries and righting wrongs. The 12-Chapter serial starred Don Briggs and Jean Rogers. Great poster graphics feature Merriwell fighting attacking lion, giant octopus, canoeing and playing baseball in addition to large star portraits at top. Poster has a few tears and some wear at margins which has been professionally restored and as linen-mounted, poster displays Exc.
