Item Description
This lot includes an extensive amount of materials used to produce the actual premium book. Includes an actual copy of the book which is 5x7" w/glossy color cover and 16 pages on newsprint. ©1965 The Pillsbury Co. Booklet is filled w/puzzles, games, pictures to color, etc. All of the proof pages have a double set of images for the book's cover and inside pages. The full color front cover slicks are 14x21" while all other slicks and newsprint sheets are 18x25". There are four identical front cover slicks in full color plus a 13.5x18" set of "Progressive Proofs" w/pair of original staples at top margin. This consists of stiff gray paper cover w/printing notations and six front cover slicks, one in full color while the others are in one or two colors that vary from slick to slick. There are two bw front cover slicks w/color designations of "Blue" on one and "Red" on the other for final printing but neither shows cover art in complete form. Each of these sheets has a 2" sliver of paper missing at bottom left margin. There are two bw slicks for inside front and back covers and each includes a second alternate inside front cover design. There are two sheets each of the four different newsprint sheets featuring the 16 different pages of the booklet. On the first of these sheets, one has a 3" tear while the other has one of the eight page panels clipped. On the second sheet, one has a 1.5" dia. clip of Goofy Grape while the other is complete. Both examples of sheets #3 and #4 are okay. However, there is really only one full set of unclipped double image proof pages. The entire lot comes in original plain cardboard folder w/various notations including date of 7-13-65. Aside from the mentioned defects, overall the group is in NM condition. An exceptional group great for display and for one of the classic Funny Face premiums. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold accompanied by a letter to that effect from Gordon Gold and this is the only set of color proofs that was in the archives.
