Item Description
This is a group of sixteen items and twelve of these are stickpins. In the order of our photo we have a 12" celluloid folding ruler with advertising on front which includes "First To Adopt The Union Label" with advertising on back for "Sweet-Orr Working Pants." Next is gorgeous 1.25" celluloid with lapel stud reverse by W&H. This shows stylish woman and reads "Widow Jones Suits Me." This was a giveaway to young men and boys from the Boston Widow employed in the Nashua store Goodnow-Hunt-Pearson. A 1909 article we found says that "You May See Her Any Day If You Step In The Store...For She Makes This Store Her Headquarters In This City." The article continues by saying that upon the death of her husband who was a tailor, she took up the work and carried it to a new level with her name today "A Synonym For All That Is Up-To-Date, Comfortable And Nobby In Boys' And Young Men's Clothing." NM displaying Mint. The Following 12 pieces are stickpins and they begin with a celluloid with tiny text on reverse "Priscilla Says Your Credit Is Good At The New England." Next is another cello with brass luster off the back but with advertising for the "International Tailoring Co." Next shows woman at sewing machine with large enamel letter "P" also reading "Pfaff." This was a German firm which in 1862 made the first sewing machine and by 1912 was exporting to 64 countries. Next reads "Spirella" this was a corset company founded in 1904. Next reads "Dixie Tailoring Co." showing female face within a flower bud. Next are a pair of lions, each with a little tarnish, with reverse text "Majestic Tailors Chicago." Next are a pair of figural stickpins inspired by the city of Chicago trademark design and each of these reads "Chicago Tailoring Co." Next is enamel and brass reading "We Made Your Fathers Clothes." Next is a figural hand with the name "Nagel" in blue enamel. We believe this may be a glove manufacturer. Next is a modern "Macy's 5" service anniversary stickpin in 10K gold. Last is an enamel and brass lapel stud from the "Real Silk Hosiery Mills" in Indianapolis. And finally is a brass charm showing a Scottie dog with reverse text "Genuine Rothmoor Coats." Exc. to Mint unless noted otherwise.
