Vertical down the left corner of the building is the text "The Baltimore Badge & Novelty Co" and the button itself carries a backpaper from this same company. Known as the Great Baltimore Fire, it broke out February 7th, 1904 and required 1,231 firefighters to bring it under control after it destroyed a major part of central Baltimore, including over 1,500 buildings.
