Item Description
This pair of rings, one in a woman's size 8 and the other in a man's size 9 were created in 1992 to be given away to Bob Overstreet's advisors for his famous Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide. The rings were designed by Overstreet and made by a jeweler in Indianapolis, Indiana. Each ring and bullet is pure silver. Only 30 of each ring were made to be given away to the advisors at a meeting held that year in Gatlinburg, TN. These were licensed products and each carries the name of the copyright holder at that time Palladium Limited Partners. Each also carries Trade Mark and copyright text along with the 1992 date. On each ring at the top one side carries the word "Overstreet" and the other side carries the initials of the book "CBPG." The band of each ring has on one side the number "19" with a small ruby color faceted stone below and below that a lightning bolt symbol. Opposite side of the ring is identical except for the numbers "92" so that together the year "1992" is formed. The top of each ring has a V-shaped notch designed to hold one of two bullets that came with each ring. Each bullet has a rectangular segment on one side designed to slip into the slot on the ring top. The "Tonto" bullet has his name on the round end where a gun hammer would strike and this is accented in red. The side of the bullet has the name "Tonto" in raised letters along with circular bands of yellow accents as well as the image of a feather accented in both red and yellow. For the ladies ring the bullets are 7/8" long while for the men's ring the bullets are 1.25" long. The Lone Ranger bullet has the same markings on the circular end the gun hammer would hit and reads "Lone Ranger" while the side of the bullet also has the name in raised letters "Lone Ranger." This bullet also shows an incised black mask plus raised in relief pair of crossed six-guns. When a bullet is inserted into the notched slot on the ring top it locks itself very firmly into place. Together the two rings and four bullets weigh 3.5oz. When Overstreet cataloged these rings for the third edition of his "Overstreet Toy Ring Price Guide" he noted in the description "The Lone Ranger (and Tonto) rings have gem stone insets on the base and gold plated lightning bolts." The plating wore off the lightning bolt but o/w other than a little tarnish, Mint as issued. Only the second set Hake's has ever offered. Rings come as issued with two envelopes from the maker "B&B Jewelers", two drawstring small bags, and two 2.5x4" papers showing the rings with 1992 © and on the reverse are signatures of Bob and Martha Overstreet plus date of "9/18/92." Our first set sold at nearly $700 but didn't have these added six items.
