Item Description
3.5x5.5" real photo postcard has been graded by SGC as 20 Fair 1.5 but image remains totally bright, clean and with tremendous clarity. Shows 15 member team in uniform with spectators gathered around and behind them. The two key players are in the back row: second from left is Cool Papa Bell and fourth from the left is Hilton Smith. Both are legends of the Negro Leagues as well as members of the National Baseball HOF. It was this year, 1940, that Bell won the league's Triple Crown, further bolstering his legacy as a batting giant. Text on bottom from margin reads "Union Laguna De Torreon" along with photographers credit "Dominguez Monterrey." Unused reverse has additional photographers ink stamp credit and printed text "Kodak Mexicana, Ltd." Lt. aging and with PSA/DNA sticker at one corner of reverse. Front shows lt. corner tip wear. A truly exceptional RPPC with two legendary figures.
