Item Description
See previous two lots. These buttons are 2" dia. rather than the standard 1.75" format. In the case of three of these, the apparent reason is that there were two ships launched on a single day. The other button in this group is even more curious. It also is 2" and features large "V" for Victory surrounded by text "Launching Sun Ship" with a serial number "5" in a panel area at bottom. This may be from the earliest years of World War II production before buttons were produced naming each ship along with its launch date. All four of these have some moisture staining on the metal back but celluloid remains extremely clean with just a little scattered faint spotting on the bkg. of the button at far left. This was for 1943 launching of "Pueblo" and "Esso Buffalo." Next is from June 1943 launching of "Brandywine" and "Marine Raven." Last is for 1944 launching of "Esso Springfield" and "Esso New Haven." Rare buttons.
