Item Description
1.25" with union bug stamp on reverse. Rather bizarre image of a creature with long whiskers wearing a black derby hat, a ballooning outfit in rwb and wearing roller skates. The initials on the character's chest stand for Works Progress Administration, a program that ran during the Depression years of 1935-1939. The Federal Theater Project was the largest and most ambitious effort of the U.S. Government to organize and produce theater events with the goal of providing work to unemployed professionals. While headquartered Washington, its many companies performed across the nation. A beautiful essentially Mint example and the only one we've seen.
