Item Description
1.25" button without dot pattern and with slight color tinting on the figures and foliage. Rim reads "The Son Of Tarzan - The Mystic Order Of The Jungle." Celluloid is exceptionally clean and with extremely high gloss although reverse has hairline 1" cello split caused when the metal collet was inserted. Of the few we've seen before, this is the third to include a backpaper which reads "Kraus M'fg. Co. 220 W. 42d St. New York U.S.A." This serial was by National Film Corp. and pictures Tarzan as played by P. Dempsey Tabler who is shown next to a man dressed as an ape at the lower left and with a terrified woman in the background at right. A beautiful example with crisp details. Lovely subtle coloration and exceptionally high gloss. About our fifth seen. Rare. This first ever Tarzan button is in the Hake Pop Culture guide at: Good $500; Fine $1,000; Near Mint $3,000. Our last two examples in Auctions #187 and #192 realized $1,750 and then over $3,500. Because of the hairline cello split on reverse, we open this example, which displays Mint, much lower.
