Item Description
8.5x11.5" flocked hardcover w/gold printing. Has 40 glossy paper pages in bwr, all photos are bw. This is the third of four such Christmas promotional books issued yearly by Kay Kamen from 1933 to 1936. This was in addition to the standard merchandise catalog that Kamen also introduced in 1934. The first half of the book is mostly text which includes very detailed information on all aspects of promotion w/sections/titles including "Catch Lines From Mickey Mouse/MM Parade/MM Band/Magic Carpet Ride/Personal Magician/The Magic Hat...Surprise Package Vendor/Coloring Contest/Give-Aways (w/list of six items shown later in this book)/Radio Broadcast/Take Your Picture With Mickey/Merchandise Booths." Next is two-page day-to-day calendar of promotions. This is followed by two pages of illustrated ad mats featuring Mickey and his Magic Carpet, Santa and more. The remaining 16 pages have photos. This is highlighted by a total of 45 different Old King Cole Disney displays including five giant motorized displays. These incredible displays (see item #2118) are highly sought after and this is an exceptional reference of those produced for the 1935 Christmas season. Other items shown include the rare "Life-Size" Mickey & Minnie Charlotte Clark display dolls (which we sold a set of in Auction #192 for the world record price of $151,534), premium items of "Magic Carpet" book, magic palette, masks, balloons, "Wolf" buttons, magic slate, play money. Slight cover wear w/a few tiny edge nicks/corner tip wear. VF w/NM contents. Extremely rare and historically significant. The first copy for this year we have offered in our 46 years.
