Lot of 46 in total, 33 different and 13 duplicates. From 1930-1931 this is the very first Dixie issue predating the popular Movie star series that would debut in 1933. All art in this series is by Dan Smith. All are 2.25" dia. Lot includes a compete run of the first 24 (numbered 1-24) plus 13 dupes from this range. These all feature animals such as Caesar The Lion, Queen The Elephant and Daniel The Chimp. Three text variations exist, most of these have "Every Saturday Evening" line regarding the radio program, a few have just the animal name, none are "Friday Evening" variety. In addition to these, lot includes nine higher number lids which are much scarcer and in addition to animals, human performers are featured. In this lot are: 26,28,38,39,41,43,44,46,47. Includes Snake Charmer, Fat Lady, Ring Master, Bearded Lady. A variety of different issuer backs including the dupes, so no two in the lot are identical. Most have tabs. Condition varies from Good to Exc. Difficult to obtain this many at once.
