Item Description
Large and impressive weather-vane life-size figure stands 6 feet, 3 inches tall to top of head (6'5" to top of wire loop) and stands on 3x3" metal base designed to look like the arms of a weather-vane, each letter/direction encircled by a heart shape design. Figure of Sgt. Pepper that later magically came to life and was portrayed by Billy Preston. Sgt. Pepper holds/plays a painted silver trumpet w/"SP" letters incorporated into the design on the trumpet. Figure is painted thin plaster over a molded fiberglass frame. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" is a 1978 musical film that featured new versions of songs originally written and performed by The Beatles. The film draws primarily from 1967's "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and 1969's "Abbey Road." The production tells the story of a band as they wrangle w/the music industry and battle evil forces bent on stealing their instruments and corrupting their hometown of Heartland. The film was produced by Robert Stigwood, founder of RSO Records, who had earlier produced "Saturday Night Fever." Figure has some wear w/a few small flakes off back side, none more than .5" or so. Trumpet has scattered paint rubs and figure displays Fine overall. A great film-used item, spotlighted in the press kit included in this lot. 8.75x12" folder contains 23 stapled packets providing biographies of the film's stars including - The Bee Gees, George Martin, Peter Frampton, Steve Martin, George Burns, Donald Pleasance and more. Film synopsis and production notes are also included. Kit also comes w/17 glossy 8x10" publicity stills, including shots of The Bee Gees and film scenes. One of note shows the actual Sgt. Pepper weather-vane prop we are offering here. Folder shows wear and is Fine w/Exc. contents. This prop was given directly to our consignor by Maurice Gibb.
