Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign featured a grassroots bus tour of America. For his inauguration, the concept was extended w/support services provided by the American Automobile Association (AAA). An April, 1993 article in their magazine explains the event - "AAA Prepared A Special Triptik Routing For The Historic 122-Mile Journey To Mark The First Time A U.S. President Has Arrived At The Nation's Capital Via An Inaugural Bus Tour. The Expedition Roughly Paralleled Thomas Jefferson's Horse-Drawn Pre-Inaugural Path To The White House In 1800. Beginning With A Stop At Monticello, The Third President's Home Near Charlottesville, Clinton's 15-Bus Fleet Traveled Along U.S. Route 29, With A Stop At The Historic Culpeper Baptist Church In Culpeper, Va., And In Warrenton, Va., For A Rally At The Old Courthouse Where John Marshall And Other Famous Lawyers Pleaded Landmark cases. The Convoy Then Journeyed Along Interstate 66 To The Lincoln Memorial, Site Of The 'American Reunion' Inaugural Celebration." Lot consists of: 1.5" dated "Clinton-Gore Monticello - January 17, 1993" button. This was a very limited, one day event button. Next is one of the "Triptiks" for the day w/gold inaugural seal on cover. 4.5x9.5" w/glossy pages detailing sites at Monticello and along the journey w/map pages. "AAA Interchange" magazine from April, 1993 w/two-page "Triptik Makes History" article. Two sheets w/four plastic AAA cards specifying "Presidential Inauguration." Photocopies of three letters related to the event. Dec. 10, 1992 from Inaugural Committe Chairman Ron Brown to Director of AAA Potomac Region requesting support for 500 vehicles before/after Inauguration. Dec. 23, 1992 from Potomac Region Director to emergency road service contractors regarding "Priority Service" and Jan. 29, 1993 follow-up from AAA President to Club CEOs about event's success, referring to the limited edition "Triptiks." All essentially Mint as issued.
