10" long (13.5" long w/attached pole trailer) painted cast metal free-wheeling truck w/rubber wheels comes in original illustrated box. 1950s Hubley Metal Kiddie Toy #478 as noted on box end flap and on underside on toy. Box shows obvious wear, w/left end flap and one inner flap missing. Evenly aged. Good/VG. This is the earlier version w/an all metal construction and longer cab, not the shorter, plastic and metal version produced later (see following item #1610). Truck features raised "Bell Telephone" name on both sides of truck and crank-driven crane boom w/original cord and metal hook. Comes w/complete amount of three nickel-plated cast metal tools. Truck has three tiny paint flakes but is o/w choice NM old store stock and is only missing a generic wooden dowel log, which is easily replaceable. Great set.
