9" long (12.75" long w/attached pole trailer) painted cast metal and plastic free-wheeling truck w/rubber wheels comes in original illustrated box. Box shows wear, w/two .5" tears to left end flap and .25" puncture to main front panel. Evenly aged. VG/Fine. 1950s Hubley Metal Kiddie Toy #482 as noted on box end flaps, but underside of toy is marked #478 as the metal back portion of the truck was a reused part from the longer, all metal version produced earlier (see previous item #1609) in an attempt to reduce cost. This version has a metal frame attached to underside, linking the two pieces together as designed and this frame is marked "Hubley Kiddie Toy No - 475." Truck features raised "Bell Telephone" name on both sides of metal portion of truck and crank-driven crane boom w/original cord and metal hook. Complete w/the three nickel-plated cast metal tools and wooden dowel log. Comes w/original cardboard box used to contain tools. Choice NM old store stock. Great set.
