Item Description
12x13x3.75" thick, 18.75 lb. rock containing several Ammonite fossils (the largest measuring 3.5" dia.) and several fossilized impressions of Ammonites. Ammonites are an extinct group of marine invertebrate animals, molluscs more closely related to living cephalopods (octopuses, squid, and cuttlefish) than they are to shelled nautiloids such as the living Nautilus species. This specimen was mined from the Huanzala Mine in the Huallanca District of Dos de Mayo Province in Peru. Piece makes for a great display, w/several prominent specimens.
