Auction #208 - Part II
Item numbers 1278 through 3040 in auction 208
Item Description
Serpentine is an olive green color and has a smooth or scaly appearance and is the basis of the name from the Latin serpentinus, meaning "serpent rock." Many types of serpentine have been used for jewelry and hardstone carving, sometimes under the name false jade or Teton jade. We are offering a carving of two sea turtles swimming over a large seashell. The piece measures 4x6.75x5.5" tall overall and the turtles and shell portion of this piece have been carved out of the same stone, the green of the serpentine really bringing out the design of the sea turtles in a visually appealing way. In addition, this piece has had a hole drilled on the underside of the shell and fits securely into its custom quartz crystal base. Exc. Wonderful display w/great colors.
