Item Description
Publication is titled "Dispatch From Disney's" 5.5x8" with 32 pages. This is Vol. 1 #1 "Published For Employees In The Services By Employees At Walt Disney Productions, Burbank, California" copyright 1943. Great cover illustration of Donald hitting Hitler in the eye with a tomato while the back cover features studio-designed insigias. Contents include one page introduction from Walt Disney, wartime-related articles, features and artwork including one page on "Entertainment Short/Education For Death," one page on Oliver Wallace who wrote the Donald Duck-related song "Der Fuehrer's Face," etc. Nicely illustrated throughout in mostly combinations of rwb/black including two fold-outs "A Day With Walt" with drawings by Roy Williams featured on one and the other depicts Disney Gremlins. Slightest cover aging with tiny trace of staple rust but still an Exc. copy. Comes with 10.5x15.5" sheet titled "Pin-Ups For Servicemen From Walt Disney Staff." Front of sheet features different pin-up illustrations by Fred Moore, Bill Justice and Milt Neal. Illustrations are designed with fake push pin designs at corners as if the pin-ups were hung on a wall. Pin-ups are of scantily-clad or bare-breasted women. Reverse includes a list of Disney Studio employees in the armed forces with three war-related cartoons. Slightest aging along original fold lines, Exc. Scarce.
