The Hannis Distilling Co. of Philadelphia, PA. built their Mount Vernon Distillery (getting its name from the whiskey distillery George Washington ran at Mount Vernon during his lifetime) in Baltimore County, MD. c. 1858, growing in size and production into the 1900s.
