Item Description
Lot of three, each 8x8.75x1.75" deep composition frame surrounding a painted cardboard bkg. upon which are mounted two individual layers of glass that bear the images and produce a three-dimensional scene in a method reminiscent of Disney's Multi-Plane Camera. These were produced by Courvoisier Galleries for sale as representations of the Disney art form. 1940s. Reverse of two complete with paper label explaining how Disney uses the multi-plane technique in his studio and each features painting number and title. These are No. 5 "Bambi And Thumper" and No. 11 "Bluebirds In Spring." Third is missing the label but is of Thumper surrounded by butterflies. These were originally issued with white frames but each frame long ago was re-painted in baby blue, most likely to match the child's room decor. Two have three small hairline splits on frame corners which have been professionally restored. Front of each still displays Exc. The two reverse labels have scattered aging, edge chipping and some blue paint over-spray although text remains largely complete.
