Item Description
Swift and Company was among the first businesses in 1896 to distribute an ad button. It promotes “Wool Soap” featuring two youngsters in night shirts. The mother who used Wool Soap provided a shirt of proper length while the other mother left her child over exposed. The theme is repeated on this glossy photo montage mounted on 3.5x4.5” stiff cardboard mount. Text below McKinley reads “(My Mamma Used Sound Money Soap)” and text below Bryan reads “(I Wish Mine Had.)” Title below both is “Shrunk.” Rare and NM. Included is 1896 Wool Soap button with Whitehead and Hoag back paper. Tiny age on the button. Senator Charles Dick Collection.
