Item Description
Both on stiff art paper. First is 14x17” and is the earlier and larger pro Nixon cartoon undated but c. 1970 by “Charlie Andrews” with margin caption “Monday Banner – 3 Col.” Titled at top “The People Are Solidly Behind Me!” with image of war critic Senator William Fulbright at a podium captioned “Bug-Out Dem. Senators.” The speech he holds reads “ Nixon Bombing Is Wrong.” In contrast flying bricks have shreaded his suit and bounce off his head with two captions “74% Back Nixon – Opinion Research” and “76% Back Nixon – Sindlinger.” Cartoonist added gift inscription in small text at upper left. NM as made. Second has reverse label for “The Times Herald” Aug. 25, 1971. Paper is 11x15” with art area of 11x12”. Art is signed “Bob Taylor” with pencil title on lower margin “So Thieu Me!” Pictured is naked King-like man next to a box reading “The Emperor’s New Clothing – Democracy – Drapings Inc.” Presidential candidate Thieu is labeled “Vietnamization” plus “Embarrassment Of A 1- Candidate Election.” Couple staple holes on margin, trivial dust soil on left margin. Extremely Fine. Pair comes with Hake's COA.
