Auction #208 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1277 in auction 208
Item Description
Each of these four pieces are in the same format as items #205 & 206. Each is 4.5" tall and each features a ribbon in a different color but all with the same text "National Republican Convention Philadelphia June 19th, 1900." On several the date does not show completely as the fabric joins a circular link which in turn holds 1.75" white metal frame. The front of each frame holds a celluloid covered paper designating the title of the person assigned the badge. On the back of each of these four pieces is a celluloid covered sheet reproducing the image on a medal showing the three men and reading "Lincoln/Grant/McKinley." A couple of the celluloid edges are lifting slightly but in no danger of coming free. The hanger on the "Page" badge is a little more brown in tone than the other three. The only piece with a serious condition issue is "Door Keeper." The red fabric at the bottom of the ribbon where it joins the medallion is disintegrating. It has an internal tape repair and displays quite well but the fabric is extremely brittle and no stress can be put on the fabric without further disintegration. The fabrics on the other three ribbons are not as brittle and are fully intact. Rare pieces. Sen. Charles Dick Collection.
