Item Description
Beautifully colored 1.25" with the clock hands pointing to the numerals symbolic of Bryan's position on the ratio of silver to gold coinage. Design is about 1/32" off centered to the top so a little more of the narrow rwb rim edge shows at the bottom and on the left and almost none shows on the top and right. This slight off-centering of the rim design is a very common feature of this button and we don't recall seeing any that are truly perfectly centered. The button is totally clean and glossy. The overall condition is superb and superior to most examples. The button is essentially Mint as made. There is no back paper but the collet is stamped "Phelps Patent May 30 1899 USA." The button carries a $1,000.00 value in Hake's 2004 Revised Prices. A most reasonable opening.
