Item Description
Each of these buttons were made for proofing purposes prior to full production and come from the button collection Marshall Levin. First is 2-1/8" jugate showing "Reagan/Bush" and reading "Unite The Party 1980." Button has celluloid covering and metal back but no pin. Curl names the maker as Dalo Button & Emblem Co. NYC. Second is same design but from an even earlier stage of the production process. This piece is a little larger than the preceding and is 2.25". The paper has rub marks around the outer edge and does not have any celluloid covering. Has metal back but no pin. Letter's written over the image area "P/O" represent the words Position Only. Third is 2-1/8" anti-Reagan button showing his portrait with universal "No" symbol superimposed. Back of this has metal back, no pin and Levin's inked word "Test." Next is 2-3/16" tall with black text "Republican National Convention 1980/Reagan." This has metal reverse with a vertical pin on the right side. The piece is celluloid covered. This was the first stage in producing the second version which includes an area at the center with black silhouette of Reagan in cowboy hat. Text is the same as on the preceding items although in a different type face. Reverse has vertical pin and the piece is celluloid covered. Unique pieces with one showing some wear and the other four Mint as made. Comes with Hake's COA.
