Item Description
1.25" has tin covered back and vertical stick pin plus name of maker St. Louis Button Co. Front of the button has cartoon image of man in the moon wearing a top hat. This is partially covered by an illustration of 1900 democratic candidate with additional text "Vote For Rolla Wells and Good Government." Part of that inscription wraps around the curl. Button has light staining over the background. At far right is tiny text "Copyright Appl'd For Jas." and a last name partially over printed by union bug that appears to be "Bost." Like the 1900 buttons for McKinley/Bryan featuring an eclipse theme this is from the same year although the Presidential buttons reference a solar eclipse May 28, 1900 so we don't quite understand why this one references a lunar eclipse. Scarce and VG.
